Americans and others all around the world have reacted in various ways to the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe v. Wade.
When the news broke, some people rejoiced while others immediately began to protest.
One day prior, the Supreme Court issued a judgement declaring that “Americans have a broad right to arm themselves in public.”
Many opponents are shocked by the Court’s decision to deny millions of women, girls, and others who are capable of getting pregnant a basic healthcare need while simultaneously guaranteeing everyone in the nation the right to arm themselves in public — despite the country’s current levels of gun violence.
Former National Finance Chair for the 2016 Draft Biden said:
“Let’s outlaw weapons and end gun violence if banning abortion “stops abortions.”
Gun proponents have claimed for years that the high rates of gun violence are not caused by the ease of obtaining firearms, instead of blaming people’s mental health or even “evil” for the issue.
On the other hand, experts have stated that simply possessing a gun in the home raises the chance of [violence] even though there may be numerous causes for it.
Many proponents of overturning Roe v. Wade think that prohibiting abortions will prevent women from receiving them.
An abortion ban, however, does not reduce the rate of abortion, according to reports. They actually result in fewer safe abortions.
Over the same era, there were 37 vs. 34 abortions per year for every 1,000 women aged 15 to 44 in the countries with the strictest and loosest abortion laws, respectively.
Research shows that limitations in places like Ohio, Utah, Wisconsin, and Texas did not produce improved outcomes and, in some cases, made matters worse by making women wait longer to receive an abortion, experience more side effects, pay more money and even face legal repercussions.
In countries with the fewest restrictions, only 1% of abortions performed between 2010 and 2014 were of the “least safe” variety. In the most restrictive countries, that ratio jumps to 31%.
According to studies, abortion restrictions may cause a 21 per cent rise in fatal pregnancies in the United States.
The ruling that upholds Americans’ right to openly carry weapons coincides with the FDA’s decision to outlaw Juul e-cigarettes due to “the possible hazards from using [the devices]”.
In response to years of pressure from public health organisations and lawmakers to regulate the market as severely as other tobacco products, the FDA is now scrutinising the vaping industry more broadly.
As e-cigarette use among high school students became more prevalent, this pressure increased.
Teenagers throughout the nation went on to express their amazement that the country is concentrating on this type of prohibition but not enacting stricter gun control laws, something that is significantly more lethal and hazardous for children and young adults.
The overturning of Roe v. Wade has many people feeling confused because they fear that other rights might be restricted. After all, the court may revisit all cases with a similar legal foundation.

When asked if he agreed with the precedent established by Roe v. Wade in the past, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Neil Gorsuch responded, “Yes, I respect the law of the land.”
