Food Stamps: 33 States Are Providing an Additional $95 in SNAP Payments

Emergency allotments are still offered by the SNAP program in 33 states. In addition to the claimant’s monthly compensation, the minimum emergency allowance is $95.

Alterations to Emergency Allocations

Based on household size and income, each SNAP participant receives a unique benefit. On an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card, the monthly benefits are made available. During the epidemic, SNAP agencies began giving recipients emergency allotments (EA) on top of their regular monthly benefits. The cheapest EA costs $95.

The funding for EAs has been extended through July 15, 2022, by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), which is in charge of SNAP. It may, however, be prolonged once again.

The extra benefit has already been phased out in certain states, including Nebraska and Tennessee.
