Marco Rubio and Rick Scott Want to Ban Oil Exports From the United States to China

Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, both Republicans from Florida, are supporting a bill that would “prohibit the exportation of oil and petroleum products from the United States to the People’s Republic of China, and ensuring we do not unknowingly aid and support our major opponent.”

Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., presented the “China Oil Export Prohibition Act” this week, with Scott as a co-sponsor.

“At a time when gas prices are rising across the country, the Biden Administration is permitting half a million barrels of American oil to be shipped to China every day,” Rubio stated. “This is intolerable.” Instead of sending oil to a homicidal state halfway around the world, we should enhance American oil production and prioritise domestic customers.”

“It’s outrageous that we continue to send oil to Communist China while Americans pay more than $5 a gallon of gas,” Scott added. “The United States transferred approximately 52 million barrels of oil and gasoline to Communist China in the first three months of 2022 alone.” Meanwhile, families here are forced to choose between putting gas in their automobiles and putting food on the table for their children due to soaring prices. Before any sales to Communist China, Americans must arrive. I implore my colleagues to vote yes on this good bill.”

Rubio’s measure has been referred to the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee of the United States Senate. So far, no companion bill has been introduced in the United States House of Representatives.

Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., introduced the “China Oil Export Prohibition Act” this week, with Scott joining him as a co-sponsor.

“At a time when gas prices across the country are soaring, the Biden Administration is allowing half a million barrels of American oil to be exported to China every day,” Rubio said. “Instead of shipping oil halfway around the world to a murderous state, we should boost American oil production and prioritise home clients.”

“It’s absurd that we continue to ship oil to Communist China while Americans pay more than $5 per gallon of gasoline,” Scott continued. “In the first three months of 2022, the United States alone delivered about 52 million barrels of oil and gasoline to Communist China.” Meanwhile, due to rising prices, families are forced to choose between filling up their cars and putting food on the table for their children. Americans must arrive before any sales to Communist China can take place. I ask my colleagues to support this good bill by voting yes.”
