An additional stimulus payment will be given to some Americans this month in some states.
Although it is unclear whether the federal government would send the fourth payment, citizens of Maine and New Mexico are eligible for stimulus funds, due to state governors and lawmakers who campaigned for more payments in light of decades of high inflation.
Maine and New Mexico will be among the states to get stimulus funds.
Residents in Maine who have filed state income tax returns for 2021 will receive the first round of $850 relief checks this month. Payments will continue until the end of the year as the state receives additional income tax returns.
Individuals must file their state income tax returns by October 31 in order to be considered for the programme. They can’t be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return, and they must have a federal adjusted gross income of less than $100,000 for single filers, $150,000 for heads of household, and $200,000 for married couples filing jointly.
The stimulus cheques, which will total $729.3 million, are expected to be sent to 858,000 residents.
New Mexico’s tax rebates are set to begin in June as well.
The Legislature enacted a stimulus check legislation earlier this year, which will offer refund payments of $250 for single filers and $500 for joint filers. In August, you’ll receive a second payment in the same amount.
It’s not essential to apply for the rebates. The payments will be made automatically to all New Mexicans who filed their income tax forms by May 31.
California, Minnesota, Colorado, Kansas, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania are all considering similar stimulus plans for their citizens, though none have yet become legislation.
