“A lot of these incidents follow a consistent pattern,” Fitzpatrick adds, “young men under 21 utilising assault-style firearms.”
There are always signs of a history of mental health disorders, or worse, animal abuse. Why should the age limit be increased?

Fitzpatrick was questioned by Action News if defying the odds is difficult. “I believe the genesis is this: if you look at any elected official from the standpoint of a temporary occupant, it’s not yours, it’s not your office, it’s not your title; it’s on loan for a limited time,” he explains. If you look at it that way, I think a lot of these votes will be simpler to come by.”
Although this bill died in the Senate almost immediately, a bipartisan group of senators has been working on their own plan.
