Succession Season 4 can’t arrive fast enough, especially after Season 3’s stunning conclusion (which drew 1.7 million viewers). The acclaimed HBO program, which has won nine Emmys since its premiere in 2018, is the essence of the family conflict that may arise when a family is extremely wealthy and powerful. There’s no shortage of fighting, backstabbing, and the occasional joke — usually at the expense of someone else — in the Roy family.
Fortunately for audiences, the drama is returning for a second season. “With each season of Succession, [creator] Jesse Armstrong continues to exceed our wildest expectations, drawing us deeper into the Roy family’s inner sanctum with unforgettable wit, empathy, and accuracy,” HBO executive vice president of programming Francesca Orsi said in a statement. “This season is no exception, and we couldn’t be more enthusiastic for all that’s in store for the next season.”
Given that the show’s fifth season will be its final, fans will want to cherish every episode from now on. So there you have it: everything you need to know about Season 4 of Succession.
What happened in Season 3 of Succession?
Succession seems to get more intense with each season, with the Roy family becoming increasingly tense with one another. They also appear to sincerely despise each other. In Season 3, the Roy siblings — Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kieran Culkin) – are still striving for dominance. Kendall lashes out at them all and finds himself pitted against the rest of the family, resulting in an alleged suicide attempt (he makes it through).
Logan (Brian Cox) is considering selling the family business, Waystar Royco, during this time. As a result, his children discover common ground and band together to try to force their father out of the company and block the sale.
When the kids discover that Logan has completely sold out his kids to protect himself, with the cooperation of their mother, the closing episode is one of the most suspenseful pieces of television.
When will Season 4 of Succession premiere?
Season 4 of Succession does not yet have a launch date, and filming has not yet commenced. HBO, on the other hand, affirmed at the start of Season 3 that Season 4 will take place. Season 4 was confirmed in a press statement issued in October of last year, but no further details were revealed.
However, in October 2021, Cox told British GQ that filming for Season 4 would begin in June of this year. With that in mind, Season 4 may premiere as early as the end of this year.

“Almost done with the writing for Season 4 here in London, with the American writers coming over,” Armstrong told Variety earlier this month. “They’re a fantastic group to talk to about character nuances, the universe, and what we’re doing on the show.”
Of course, it’s also entirely possible that episodes won’t return until early 2023.
Who is in Season 4 of Succession’s cast?
Season 4 of Succession will most likely feature a cast that is very similar to the one we’ve met so far. Cox will very certainly return as the family patriarch, with Strong, Snook, and Culkin reprising their roles as his children, as well as Alan Ruck reprising his role as Connor, the Roy sibling who isn’t as involved in the family feud.
Nicholas Braun, as genial Cousin Greg, and Michael Macfadyen, as Tom, Shiv’s husband and the whistle-blower on the Roy siblings’ attempt to depose their father, will undoubtedly return. Gerri, one of Logan’s right hands in the corporation and the target of Roman’s affections, should be back, as should Peter Friedman and Logan’s other right hand, Frank.
Have there been any Season 4 spoilers released yet?
Because HBO has a tight grip on the Succession scripts, there’s no way of knowing what will happen in Season 4. Even the cast has remained tight-lipped about what to expect in Season 4. However, it’s safe to presume that Season 4 will focus on the consequences of Season 3’s end with the Roy family.
While the Roys have long carried a lot of animosities (and some love), it was pushed to a whole new level when Logan dubbed his children “morons” and conspired against them. Granted, they were conspiring against him as well, but when it’s a parent screwing over their children, it feels more heinous. Regrettably, this is the Roys.
