The availability of source material and the overall success of an anime are usually the deciding factors in whether or not it will be produced again.
Crunchyroll does not provide official viewership numbers for anime titles that are simulcast. However, Rent-A-Girlfriend season 1 was hugely popular around the world, and it currently has a 7.5/10 on IMDB, 4.4/5 on Crunchyroll, and 7.26/10 on MyAnimeList, with over 467,000 people watching it!
Then there’s the fact that the original Rent-A-Girlfriend manga series is still running strong, implying that there’s still enough source material to adapt for the anime adaptation. Season 1 of the anime ended at volume 6, chapter 49 of the original series, according to Anime Geek.

The good news for fans is that 25 volumes with 227 chapters have been published in Japan as of March 2022, with 11 of them also available in English. This means that not only will a second anime season be televised, but there will be enough source material for up to four seasons!

The Release Date for Rent-a-girlfriend Season 2 Has Been Announced
Following the conclusion of season 1 in September 2020, the popular anime series was renewed for a second season in 2022, according to the renewal announcement.
Then, on January 14th, 2022, the series’ Japanese website officially stated that Rent-A-Girlfriend season 2 would premiere in July 2022.
Season 2 Episode 1 is planned to broadcast on Saturday, July 2nd, or Monday, July 9th, by the programming block from season 1.

The Rent-A-Girlfriend manga began serialization in Japan in 2017, and 25 volumes have been published as of this writing.
Unfortunately, the hit manga’s English publication is a little behind schedule, with volume 15 coming out on March 15th, 2022.
