We’re back in the ton with eight brand-new episodes eighteen months after the first season of Bridgerton. The second season of Bridgerton follows Anthony Bridgerton in his search for a suitable spouse, leaving Daphne and Simon behind.
Season two of Bridgerton contains the same all-star cast (with the welcome addition of the Sharma sisters) and the wonderful hair, makeup, and dress we’re used to seeing in the ton, but it’s far less erotic than its predecessor.

Has the third season of ‘Bridgerton’ been ordered?
Yes! Following season 1’s record-breaking ratings, our favorite Regency drama was renewed for seasons 3 and 4 in April 2021. “Esteemed members of the Ton, it appears we have a quite special announcement,” Lady Whistledown wrote in a letter to Netflix, which read, “Esteemed members of the Ton, it appears we have a really unique announcement.” Seasons three and four will see the return of Bridgerton. “This two-season acquisition is a significant vote of confidence in our work, and I feel extremely thankful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix,” Rhimes said at the time. Kate’s mother Mary and sister Edwina will also be in London, with Queen Charlotte hinting that she would pair Edwina up with her nephew Prince Friedrich (Freddie Stroma), who wooed Daphne in season 1.
Season 3 of ‘Bridgerton’ will be based on which Julia Quinn’s novel?
If we follow Quinn’s series in sequence, the next book is An Offer From a Gentleman, a Cinderella-like narrative of Benedict’s love for Sophie Beckett, an earl’s daughter forced into slavery by her terrible stepmother. For those who are perplexed as to why the next leading Bridgerton isn’t a woman, the novels are arranged in alphabetical/age order, beginning with Daphne and ending with the children in alphabetical/age order (Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, Gregory).
The Netflix program, on the other hand, has chosen to bring up another sibling’s book earlier than intended. Coughlan said that the second season would focus on Colin and Penelope’s romance, which will be hampered by Penelope’s actions as Lady Whistledown and her falling out with Eloise, during a panel discussion at Netflix’s FYSEE event.

Fans of the Bridgerton novels may be surprised, but the show’s creative team has signaled in previous interviews that it does not have to follow the same path. Rhimes hinted in an interview with Entertainment Tonight(opens in new tab) that the program doesn’t have to follow the book’s order.
“Because there are eight Bridgerton brothers, we’re going to track each of their romantic experiences.” We won’t necessarily go in order, but we’ll see each of the siblings and hear their tales.”
“I can’t say or talk about anything after this season,” executive producer Chris Van Dusen said, “but it was always my objective to focus on a different Bridgerton sister every season, and it’s no secret there are eight Bridgerton siblings.” We’ll stay on for as long as Netflix wants us, but if we’re successful, I’d like to focus on each of the eight Bridgerton siblings and write romantic tales for each of them.”
Because of the formal break from the book sequence, anything is possible for future seasons (assuming that Netflix will definitely renew its biggest hit). Season 4 might return to Benedict’s love story, or it could focus on another Bridgerton sister. In that case, Eloise or Francesca, who is scheduled to play a larger part in Season 3, maybe up sooner than the book order.
Jonathan Bailey expressed his excitement for Eloise’s season in an interview with E! “I’m looking forward to walking Eloise down the aisle for a variety of reasons,” he remarked. “Partly because Eloise, if there’s ever any character with a stronger story than Anthony in terms of having to face psychological warfare, it’ll be here.”
Who among the cast will make a comeback?
Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) and Simone Ashley (Kate Bridgerton née Sharma) are slated to make additional appearances, so we can expect to see more of the newlyweds. “Kate and Anthony are just getting started,” Ashley said at a Netflix dinner, according to Deadline(opens in new tab).

Since Charithra Chandran (Edwina Sharma) and Shelly Conn (Mary Sharma) are expected to return next social season, we may (hopefully!) see visits from them. A scenario with the women visiting the new Viscountess Bridgerton is something we’d want to see.
Who are the new cast members for season 3 of ‘Bridgerton’?
Hannah Dodd will join the program as Francesca, the sixth-eldest Bridgerton kid, in the upcoming season, according to Deadline(opens in new tab). Ruby Stokes, who has portrayed the Ton for the past two seasons, is leaving the program to feature in Lockwood & Co. on Netflix.
Dodd most recently appeared in David E. Kelley’s Netflix anthology Anatomy of a Scandal, in which she played a younger version of series protagonist Sophie Whitehouse. She’ll also star alongside Millie Bobby Brown in the sequel to Enola Holmes. In terms of Bridgerton, Francesca’s tale is the sixth in the series, but Dodd will be a series regular in season 3, so we’ll hopefully get to spend a lot of time with the character we’ve seen the least.

Several cast members have indicated an interest in the following steps in their characters’ journeys. The actors discussed where Anthony and Kate’s love story may go next in a Digital Spy(opens in new tab) interview (provided before they were confirmed to return).
“If I were to return for season three, I’d want to see Kate and Anthony’s love story continue and see them play post-marriage and have the honeymoon romance that they deserve, as well as a lot more horseback riding,” Ashley stated.
“Because Kate is now the viscountess,” Bailey said, “and if you marry into the Bridgerton family, you’re married in.”
Ashley also expressed her desire for Kate to succeed in her new marriage and role to Deadline(opens in new tab).
“She’s now in command of the family, and she’ll have to put on her big boots.” “I believe she is capable,” she stated. “I definitely want to keep Kate’s sensitivity and gentleness to myself, and she can share it with Anthony.” I’m simply looking forward to her having a home and a family. I’m looking forward to watching her develop. I’d like to see Kate be a lot bolder, a lot less stubborn, and a lot more heart strong.”

“The problem is, the novels are the books, and the program is absolutely based on them, but it isn’t bound to them.” So, I’m not sure. The novels suggest Benedict will be the next one up, but we don’t know for sure since the show is the show, and the show has the freedom to do anything it wants. Even when you’re not in the driver’s seat, the show seems like it’s an ensemble effort, and there’s a lot to dig our teeth into.
It’s not like I’m waiting for my ‘big moment,’ since it’s such a large collaborative effort, and that’s what makes it so rewarding. I’m content as long as Benedict is continued to be investigated.”
“They have to [reconcile],” Nicola Coughlan told Entertainment Tonight(opens in new tab) about the aftermath of Penelope and Eloise’s major argument. They have to since not doing so would shatter my heart. Also, I believe that there are times in strong life-long friendships when you do quarrel, and you simply have to learn to grow a little bit. Penelope, on the other hand, appears to have some apologizing to do. “I believe she ought to apologize.”
Claudia Jessie also told the magazine that she wanted the pals to reconcile “as quickly as possible,” and she speculated on how Eloise could deal with the major truth.
“I believe she will be a terrific buddy. That’s what I believe [she] will always be. She said, “I think she’ll be a faithful buddy who doesn’t tell anyone.” “I’m not sure what will happen.” I mean, they may match her scars, but I doubt it. I believe she will be enraged, but she will then be really courteous and say nothing. “I don’t believe she’ll want to damage Penelope,” says the narrator.
In an interview with TV Guide, Coughlan expounded on Penelope’s posture heading into Season 3, stating she expects the Whistledown author to be “a bit of a savage.”
“I think Penelope is going to be in a bad place,” she remarked, “since she’s lost Eloise and Colin, and all she has now is Whistledown.” “I have a feeling she’ll be a bit of a barbarian.” I believe she eventually found herself while also losing herself this time around if that makes sense.
As time went on, she grew a little more arrogant, because when you go around a ballroom, everyone is saying, ‘Lady Whistledown is the greatest genius.’ Oh, she’s fantastic. ‘She terrifies the queen.’ She’s got all this money, and I’m sure it’s going to affect her, but I believe she needs to take a few steps back.”
The performers are also looking forward to exploring certain moments from the novels. Ruth Gemmell, who plays Mama Bridgerton, told Cosmopolitan that she’d want to see a Book 3 sequence on the program.
“I believe it’s in Benedict’s narrative, where Violet is holding a ball.” She’s irritated with her children, and someone invites her to dance, so she does. What I enjoyed about it was that it was disliked by all of the youngsters. Then you see her listening in on their talk about: Who the hell is this guy? “I hope they bring some of that because it’s great,” she remarked.
Colin’s actor, Luke Newton, told The Hollywood Reporter that he expects to have a Whistledown revelation sequence similar to Eloise’s in season 2.
“I’m itching to know his reaction, so I’m hoping sooner rather than later.” He certainly has a strong bond with her, just as Eloise does, but I believe it’s tough because… is he beyond the Marina situation? With Whistledown, that’s the only controversy he’s been involved in. Is he, on the other hand, willing to be deceived for whatever long?
It’s occasionally put his family in uncomfortable situations,” he remarked. “So it’ll surely stir things up, especially now that Eloise has written off her closest friend.” It’ll be fascinating to see if Penelope has any feelings for the Bridgertons, who have been kept safe because of their link. “I have to admit, even though she doesn’t seem to pay her much attention, I believe [Lady Danbury] liked Lady Featherington,” she continued. “I believe Lady Featherington’s resolve has something to do with it.” “I’d want to see a little more of them.”
She also wants to see her character in a love story. “I wish Lady Danbury could find someone to love. It would be fantastic. And I’m a big fan of her hunger. So anything that permits more of that appetite to be present would be wonderful,” she added.
What about the spin-off about Queen Charlotte?
The Queen Charlotte prequel’s premise has been disclosed by Netflix, with the description stating that it will follow Queen Charlotte’s discovery that “she was not precisely what the royals were anticipating.” Lady Danbury will also be established as a “guiding light for the next Queen, all while establishing her own voice and strength” in the prequel.
