THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS in Maine will get an $850 stimulus payment.
The payouts will be delivered to eligible residents across the state rather than being deposited directly into their accounts. The reimbursements will be distributed to a total of 858,000 persons.
The first batch will be sent out in June, and subsequent batches will be sent out as needed through the end of the year.
The checks will be addressed to the address listed on the taxpayer’s Maine individual tax return for 2021.
According to the Maine Governor’s Office, they will be forwarded to any forwarding addresses registered with the US Postal Service.
To be eligible for the money, residents must file their state individual tax forms by October 31.
Individual taxpayers must earn up to $100,000 to be eligible for the payout.
Meanwhile, the barrier is $150,000 for single filers and $200,000 for married couples filing jointly.
Joint filers will be eligible for relief payments of $1,700.
As long as they match the conditions, residents of the state who rely on Social Security benefits and/or retirement income will be eligible for the check.
The money will be available for recipients to spend any way they want.
“These payments are aimed to assist in managing rising prices due to global inflation and supply chain implications and other worldwide economic disruptions caused by the pandemic,” the Governor’s Office said.
In March, inflation rose to 8.5 percent, putting even more strain on American families’ wallets.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, this is the highest inflation rate since December 1981. (BLS).
Meanwhile, millions of Illinois taxpayers are set to get payments of up to $400 this year.

Single taxpayers who earned less than $200,000 in the previous fiscal year are eligible for a $50 rebate.
Couples who file joint tax returns and make less than $400,000 should expect a $100 refund.
In addition, eligible Illinois residents will get $100 per dependent. The number of dependents is limited to three.
