Frank Vogel is unemployed just two seasons after winning the NBA championship. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a replacement. Former NBA star Lamar Odom has an idea who should receive the position, and it’s a surprising choice.
This week, Odom disclosed his choice for the Lakers’ next head coach to TMZ Sports: Phil Jackson. He isn’t joking either.
Jackson, according to Odom, would be an excellent fit for the Lake Show right now. He could adopt the triangle offense and hand it over to LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the team.
Jackson, 76 years old and hasn’t coached since 2011, is worth noting. But there’s a reason he’s considered an all-time great. Should the Lakers try to re-sign him?
Keep him alive for a bit longer. According to TMZ.com, “Phil Jackson, I know, can teach LeBron with the triangle offense.” “I believe that would keep [LeBron] in the league for a little longer.”
“I’d love for Phil Jackson to be the Los Angeles Lakers’ coach….” If he were to return to coaching, I believe the Lakers would be his first choice — the fan-favorite.”

When Jackson retired, he was still at the height of his game. The Lakers went 57-25 in his final season as an NBA coach, earning the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. In the semi-finals, the Lakers were swept by the Dallas Mavericks, who went on to win the title.
It’s been more than a decade since then. The NBA has evolved, and the Lakers’ roster is a shambles.
