The Brooklyn Nets have clinched the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference after a season marred by injuries and COVID-19 requirements. The Nets will host the Cleveland Cavaliers for the opportunity to play the second-seeded Boston Celtics now that they have clinched the 7th seed.
The loser of the Nets vs. Cavaliers game will host the winner of the Atlanta Hawks vs. Charlotte Hornets game in a win-or-go-home game on Friday night, with the winner of that game advancing to the playoffs as the No. 8 seed and facing the Miami Heat beginning next weekend.
The Nets won four straight games to avoid having to play in the play-in tournament on the road. The Nets will begin their quest to become the first 7th seed to reach the NBA Finals if they win on Tuesday. The top seeds in the Eastern Conference aren’t confident in their seedings with a healthy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
