A Veteran Player Has Been Waived by the Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking ahead to next season because they’ve been formally eliminated from playoff contention. The team is clearing a roster spot by removing Trevor Ariza, according to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times.

In 24 games this season, the well-traveled forward averaged 4.0 points and 3.4 rebounds for his 10th NBA franchise. He’s only appeared in two of the Lakers’ last 19 games, scoring six points in a row to end-March.

Ariza only had double-digit points twice this season, despite making 11 starts.

Ariza was a solid perimeter player for the Lakers in 2008-2009, appearing in 82 games. He has, however, spent the last four seasons with six different teams.

The Lakers may convert a younger player to an NBA contract or sign someone else before the season ends by dismissing Ariza. Los Angeles, who was eliminated from the play-in tournament due to a seven-game losing streak, still has three games left this season.
