Two teens who were reported missing on October 18 after attending a homecoming dance at San Lorenzo High School in the East Bay have been located, according to Scott Faust, a spokesperson for San Lorenzo Unified School District, in an email sent Monday afternoon. “We are tremendously grateful for this outcome and happy for the families involved and our entire school district community,” Faust wrote in an email. “We do not have any additional information to share now.”
Officials say two youngsters have been missing since Friday night when they attended a high school homecoming dance in the East Bay town of San Lorenzo.
Michelle Olivas Sanchez, 15, is a student at San Lorenzo High School, and she brought Elvis Merino, 15, as her date to the school dance, according to an Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and San Lorenzo Unified School District release. Elvis was driven to the dance by his parents from their home in Potter Valley, Mendocino County. According to Scott Faust, a school district spokesperson, the kids were last seen by their peers at the dance at 9:05 p.m. The two were meant to meet their parents after the dance around 9 p.m., but they did not show up, according to the school system. The teenagers didn’t answer their telephones.
The parents and school officials searched the school grounds for them and sites where they suspected they might have gone, but the two were not found. The sheriff’s office believes the two may be together. On Monday morning, Faust informed SFGATE that there was no evidence that they left unwillingly. Officials are urging the public to keep an eye out for the two. Michelle is 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs approximately 108 pounds. She has long, straight black hair and brown eyes. She “was last seen wearing a pink dress, black jacket, black shoes, and carrying a small pink backpack,” according to the sheriff’s office.
