A missing guy from Illinois was discovered dead over the weekend in Michigan City. Police said they received a complaint shortly after 7:30 a.m. Sunday about a corpse in the water near 1 Heisman Harbor Road. The body was pulled from the water and identified as Jimmy Godoy, 42, of Cicero, Illinois.
According to investigators, Godoy traveled to Michigan City with family members on October 13 to go shopping. He informed his family at 3 p.m. that he would stroll to another store. Police said Godoy could not be found after leaving the shopping complex and was reported missing the following afternoon. According to family members, Godoy had a history of “going missing” but had never gone this long without making touch.
The LaPorte County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy to ascertain the cause and manner of Godoy’s death. However, police say there was no obvious evidence of foul play when his body was discovered.
