After being apprehended by federal investigators in California in August, a Canadian wanted man was back in South Florida to face charges related to a man’s death from a triple shooting at a Miami Beach nightclub in 2023.
Deshawn Davis was Arrested:
On Wednesday night, Deshawn Davis, 36, of Toronto, was admitted to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a charge of first-degree murder.
According to an arrest warrant from the Miami Beach Police Department, Davis is a “rapper and performer” who goes by the stage name “Thorobread.” He is charged with the murder of fellow rapper Lowell “Lo” Grissom, 37. The incident claimed the lives of two ladies.
At the time of his arrest in Redway, California, Davis was sought not only in South Florida but also in Canada, where he was wanted about an abduction that occurred in 2022 at a lakeside hamlet in Ontario.
The shooting in Miami Beach took place inside the GALA Miami nightclub, located at 235 23rd St., shortly before 4 a.m. on May 7, 2023. According to the request, an MBPD detective claimed that Davis could be seen “clearly following” Grissom throughout the club on security footage.
According to the authorities, Guerby Francois, 38, of Lauderhill, picked up Davis in a silver Mercedes-Benz following the incident.
Six days after the incident, Francois gave the Broward Sheriff’s Office officers a bogus identity, which allowed them to find him and take him to prison, according to the warrant. As of Thursday, the false-identity lawsuit was still pending in Broward County court, according to documents.
Authorities claim that WhatsApp communications kept on Francois’ phone under the name “Thoro Bread Nu 27” demonstrated their communication with Davis.
Davis texted Francois, “wtf u at,” which is short for “where the f— you at,” a short while after the shooting.
Although the arrest warrant does not name a specific motive, federal investigators claimed that they suspect the murder was a targeted strike with a gang connection when Davis was taken into custody in August.
In the 2022 abduction case, Davis was accused by the Ontario Provincial Police of being involved in the abduction of Elnaz Hajtamiri on January 12, 2022.
After being transferred from a relative’s home in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, to an SUV, Hajtamiri vanished and hasn’t been seen since. Charges for Hajtamiri’s alleged murder were brought against her ex-boyfriend. As of Thursday afternoon, Davis was detained at TGK without bond.
