A Hialeah man is now the second person arrested in connection with the theft of a tractor-trailer with around $100,000 worth of poultry items, and police believe he is also a suspect in a related $400,000 meat crime. According to documents, Jorge Lyen Blanco-Diaz, 38, was detained Monday on grand theft of cargo, grand theft of a vehicle, and unlawful use of a communication device.
Raul Bello, 49, was detained earlier this month on the same accusations related to the chicken incident. The tractor-trailer was stolen near the driver’s residence on Old State Road 9 and Northwest 155th Lane in Miami on September 15. According to an arrest record, the driver stated that his sister informed him that the truck, worth $60,000, and trailer, worth $80,000, were missing.
According to the allegation, $100,000 worth of frozen poultry was inside. According to the report, license plate scanners captured the tractor-trailer driving north on Interstate 95 about a mile from where it was stolen, followed by a white Nissan NV200 van. According to the report, another license plate scanner photographed the tractor-trailer and Nissan van on W. 33rd Avenue and W. 84th Street in Hialeah.
According to the report, police located the van and began surveillance, eventually discovering Bello driving it. According to the report, investigators retrieved Bello’s mobile information, which showed him near the tractor-trailer heist scene. The information also revealed that he had talked with a phone number associated with a co-defendant in the tractor-trailer theft, the report stated. According to the arrest report, blanco-Diaz, the co-defendant is now under house arrest and wearing a GPS ankle monitor in connection with two other cases. According to the investigation, the ankle monitor data indicated that it was at the theft location on the day of the crime and when the truck and trailer were taken.
