After being taken into custody associated with the alleged murder of a brothel owner in Lake Worth Beach, two additional suspects are being charged with murder.
According to jail records, Anthony Jennings was identified and taken into custody in Hillsborough County, while Spencer Privert was put into the Palm Beach County jail late on Thursday night. In connection with the September 5 shooting, Privert, Jennings, and a 14-year-old kid who was previously detained are all charged with first-degree murder, burglary while armed, and aggravated battery with a handgun.
Additional charges in Hillsborough County against Jennings include grand theft of a firearm, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and false imprisonment, according to his booking report. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in announcing his arrest that he is being held on those local counts and would be returned to West Palm Beach once they are settled.
On September 11, while Privert and the teenager were leaving the house where PBSO detectives had determined the three of them hang out, they were both brought into custody. According to the complaint, Privert—who is classified as transient—was among the people the juvenile suspect allegedly began running with after he was left without a place to stay due to his circumstances at home.
When deputies found the automobile that the three suspects had allegedly driven the night before, they spoke with the driver, a lady who said she had hired it from two males who went by the names “Run Flat” and “Spence.” This was the day following the shooting. The woman subsequently disclosed that her drug supplier, “Spence,” Spencer Privert, is someone she communicates with daily.
She went on to tell the police that she had met two males who “Spence” consistently hung out with and that she had known him for seven months. For the past few months, she claimed to have witnessed the teenager hanging out with “Spence” every day. She mentioned that the youngster had told her one evening that he was living on the streets because his father had mistreated him. She said he thinks the two men are cool, which is another reason he hangs out with them.
Brothel Owner Killed
Marco Rubi Escobar is said to have been killed on September 5 at a residence on Melaleuca Lane in Lake Worth Beach by Privert and the youngster. Rubi Escobar was discovered by deputies dead on the floor of the house, with several gunshot wounds to his body, and spent shell shells all around him.
Furthermore, authorities reported that during their search, they came across a 23-year-old guy who had been shot in the leg and had admitted in an interview to have been inside the brothel at the time of the murder. According to PBSO, he reported he observed a young Hispanic male enter the residence, then minutes later heard the victim crying “NO, NO, NO,” followed by gunfire when he ran from the brothel.
After checking out the house, the deputies reported discovering a bloodstain across the backyard and a shattered back door with a bullet hole.
According to the probable cause affidavit, PBSO learnt that the house was a brothel or a place for prostitution after talking to the neighbours.
The neighbours reported to the cops that they saw two male black people outside the house with masks on, one of them holding a weapon. They also told authorities, according to the report, that they observed a white Toyota, but it had disappeared when they heard the gunshots.
As a result of the home’s reputation as a hotspot for prostitution and criminal activities, PBSO claimed to have a security camera trained on the house when the murder occurred.
Officials said that the videotape showed several persons inside the brothel when a Chrysler 300 pulled up.
Three persons were observed getting out of the vehicle; one of them turned out to be a 14-year-old boy of Hispanic descent. The report says that the teen was seen leaving the automobile with a weapon and phone in his hands. The video then shows him walking towards the brothel while on the phone, his pistol tucked under his shirt, and peeping through the windows.
The footage then showed the teenager entering the brothel. The two additional males, one of whom is carrying a weapon akin to Draco, get out of the car and squat close to the automobiles parked in front of the brothel about a minute later, according to PBSO.
According to the video, the teen is seen leaving the house as the two other men enter, about ten minutes after he first enters the brothel. After around three minutes, the two men can be seen escaping the brothel by rushing back into their automobile.
Following the issuance of a search warrant, PBSO determined that the house was a brothel since it had three bedrooms, only beds, and a large number of used condoms in trash bags in each one. Additionally, they discovered numerous bullet cartridge casings, which they verified belonged to a handgun in the Draco design.
The owner of the Toyota, which was at the brothel when the incident occurred, was interviewed by authorities on September 7. The man claimed that he frequently visits the brothel and begs the sex workers there for services. He claimed that while he was staying at the brothel, he witnessed two black males wearing masks and carrying handguns and rifles enter the house. According to the story, he was on the couch when the gunman opened fire and said, “LET’S GO, LET’S GO, LET’S GO.”
Additionally, the man informed the cops that the victim was the one running the brothel and its female clients.
The document states that the 14-year-old admitted to his involvement in the crime in a post-Miranda interrogation with detectives.
