On Tuesday evening, the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office was looking into the missing person’s case.
The 45-year-old Amy Shipley was still being searched for, and investigators were in the Cook Township vicinity near Helens Lane.
The probe was connected to the Shipley search, according to a DA’s office spokesman. They did not, however, confirm the circumstances that prompted the Helens Lane probe.
There was a coroner there, according to confirmation from the coroner’s office.
Action News 4 from Pittsburgh arrived first. At the location where investigators were searching, an excavator was visible, positioned behind a house that they had verified was unoccupied.
Relatives continue to burn rubbish on the property, which belonged to a woman who passed away many years ago, a neighbour told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.
Shipley was last spotted by the police on September 8 in the vicinity of the 500 block of West Vincent Street in Ligonier Borough. According to officials, the circumstances behind Shipley’s disappearance remain unknown.
Action News 4 in Pittsburgh was informed by detectives that they planned to remain on the scene until Wednesday morning.
