Mom ‘angry’ about ‘spilled shampoo’ accused of pushing 1-year-old daughter out of car

A 29-year-old Florida mother who was allegedly enraged by “spilt shampoo” is accused of abusing and neglecting her 1-year-old daughter. The mother is accused of kicking her out of a car in Hialeah at night, driving away, making a U-turn, and stealing the child from the arms of a woman who had carried the child away from the street. The mother is facing a felony case of neglect and abuse.

Tasshay Chelsea Mills, 29, has a history of legal issues; recent Law&Crime court records reveal multiple instances of her being involved in theft, violence, and probation breaches. These charges are not the first time she has run afoul of the law. In her most recent criminal case, which sprang from the incident that happened on September 5 at 8:30 p.m. near NW 37th Avenue and NW 54th Street, Mills was ordered to remain away from her child after making a $7,500 bond payment to Miami-Dade County.

A day after the event, when a missing person alert was issued and investigators looked for Mills, the child, and a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, the alleged facts of the case started to come to light. After the one-year-old was discovered safe, the missing person alert was dropped but Mills was still taken into custody.

The Hialeah Police Department reports that a woman who was in Mills’ car at the time claimed that the suspect’s “angry” reaction was caused by “spilt shampoo” in the back seat. Witnesses who were shocked to see Mills hitting her 1-year-old and pushing the child out of the car onto the “asphalt” were reportedly prompted to act.

Ring camera footage was shown by local ABC affiliate WPLG, which also conducted an interview with the witness—a mother—who met the suspect after saving the infant.

The witness stated that she observed the 1-year-old being thrown into the road while driving behind Mills with her boyfriend. It was said that the girl was “bleeding from her head.”

According to reports, Mills drove off “erratically” before making a U-turn to return to the location where her child received assistance.

The defendant was then shown in the horrifying video pulling the infant out of the witness’s arms.

The witness was heard stating, “Okay, I’m not giving you this baby,” right before the suspect picked up the child and left.

According to WPLG, Mills stated that she “removed” the girl from the car to “clean the seat,” not pushing her out. This was after the youngster was taken into custody by the Miramar Police Department.

On October 10, Mills’ arraignment is set for 9 a.m.
