The wife of former Scottish rugby international Scott Hastings has been missing since Tuesday, when she went swimming in the Firth of Forth, according to his family. Jenny Hastings did not return after swimming in Wardie Bay in Edinburgh.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency claimed they got a “report of concern” at about 2.45 pm, and a helicopter, coastguard rescue teams, lifeboats, and other adjacent vessels all participated in the search. However, the agency stated that the search had yielded no results and was called off at 8.20 pm that evening.
In a statement, the Hastings family said they were “absolutely heartbroken” by the news, adding that Jenny had “struggled with her mental health for several years.” The release continued: “It’s with huge sadness that we write to advise you that Jenny went swimming in the Firth of Forth on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 3, 2024, and that the police are treating the event as a high-risk missing person case.”The Hastings family is completely heartbroken.
“Jenny and Scott have an enormous circle of friends from all walks of life, such as those who work in the media, and we ask that, at this point, we are allowed to grieve quietly with family members.” “For the time being, we suggest that you refrain from texting us directly and publishing on any social media platforms until further notice. “We know you all care profoundly about us, and we will notify you as soon as we receive any updates from the police. “We miss Jenny. She leaves a void in all of our hearts, and we pray that she is safely returned to us so that we can honor her extraordinary life.”
