Maryland – A Maryland lady reportedly claimed to police she had fatally sliced her sister with a utility knife during a driveway altercation following a wedding, and she sobbed when they informed her of her death.
In connection with her sister Alyssa Jarrells’s, 31, death, 29-year-old Brianna Kathleen Jarrells is charged with first-degree murder, according to a press release from the police.
The deadly incident occurred on Sunday at 1:35 a.m. in Catonsville, outside of Baltimore, in the 5600 block of Wilkens Avenue.
According to what the boyfriend told police in court filings, the altercation took place at Alyssa Jarrells’ boyfriend’s house, where the sisters had gone following the wedding, local affiliate WBAL reported.
The witness informed police that they “got into a minor argument, which continued to escalate as the evening continued,” according to local Fox and MyNetworkTV affiliate WBFF. It was unclear what the argument was over.
When an officer asked the victim, who was bleeding out on the driveway, where the perpetrator was, she replied, “Right there,” pointing to her sister, according to court documents cited by local ABC affiliate WMAR.
Brianna Jarrells later allegedly told police, “I actually used a utility knife. I never actually tried, I pinned it up to her as a warning,” before also allegedly saying, at one point, “I need to shut the f— up.”
Brianna Jarrells allegedly remarked, “Oh f—, I thought I just nipped her,” in tears, after learning from an officer that her sister had passed away in a hospital.
The victim’s funeral expenses were covered by a GoFundMe page.
“After receiving the devastating news of Alyssa Jarrell’s passing, we started this GoFundMe to assist the family with funeral costs and navigating many life changes and support for her three young beautiful children while grieving their mother’s death. The family greatly appreciates any assistance you can provide. Go fund does receive a transaction fee, so donations and gift cards can also be given to the family directly.”
