Former Tennessee Titans scout, Blaise Taylor, found himself in a Nashville court on Wednesday, facing accusations of a heinous crime that shocked the nation.
The 27-year-old stands accused of poisoning his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, resulting in the tragic deaths of both Benning and her unborn child.
Prosecution’s Allegations
When the Tennessee incident is said to have been carried out by Utah marshals, Benning was five months pregnant. According to Taylor, the terrifying incident began on February 25, 2023, when Benning was experiencing an adverse reaction to 911.
The Americans managed to capture Taylor, but Benning’s health rapidly declined and she was unable to communicate with authorities before she died on March 6, her 25th birthday. The fetus tragically died from the poisoning on February 27, 2017.
The gravity of the charges against Taylor was revealed when he appeared in court via video conference. The prosecutor’s office in Taylor declared in a notice of intent that they planned to pursue a life sentence without the possibility of parole. They assert that Taylor was aware of the murder and either gave the go-ahead or encouraged it.

Tennessee Titans Connection
Taylor was not well-known until these startling accusations surfaced during his time as a scout with the Tennessee Titans from 2019 to 2023. The group distanced themselves from the incident as it was happening and revealed to Fox 17 News that he had previously worked there.
While the case is pending, recollections of Jade Benning depict a lively individual who was loved by many.
Benning’s life was cruelly cut short, but her obituary spoke of a smile that could light up a room and a heart that loved everyone. Her position as cook at Earnest Bar & Hideaway, head pastry chef at Mirabella’s Table, and proprietor of the catering business JTB Eatery showed her passion and dedication to her work.
The bond hearing scheduled for April 15th is crucial in the quest for justice for Jade Benning, her unborn child, and all those impacted by this tragic incident, particularly as the community struggles to deal with the repercussions of this senseless act.
