Apple’s Surprising Move: New Features Unveiled for Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Pixel Watch

Wear OS smartwatch users have reason to rejoice as Shazam, the popular music recognition app owned by Apple, receives a significant update.

Now, users can enjoy the functionality of Shazam directly on their smartwatches without the need for a connection to their phones.

Enhanced Functionality for Smartwatches

Wear OS powers a large number of Android smartwatches, like the Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 6, and more. For this reason, a broad user base will find this update very important.

With this update, the improved Shazam app can now identify music on your smartwatch without the use of a companion app on your phone. This implies that the program will function flawlessly on your smartwatch even if it isn’t loaded on your Android phone.

One of the first people to test this capability was Victoria Song of The Verge, who downloaded the Shazam app straight to her OnePlus Watch 2 instead of first installing it on her linked Pixel 8 Pro phone. The software recognized several K-pop songs in a matter of seconds and functioned flawlessly.

Wear OS smartwatch users have reason to rejoice as Shazam, the popular music recognition app owned by Apple, receives a significant update.

The update’s offline functionality is one of its best features. When you come across a song you’re not familiar with while offline, your smartwatch will record a brief excerpt of the music and save it for identification at a later time when an internet connection is available.

Additionally, if you are logged in, recognized music now sync instantaneously across all of your devices in real-time. Users should be aware that the software no longer launches automatically and now needs hitting the Shazam icon to start song recognition.

With this upgrade, Wear OS wearable users can get closer to enjoying a seamless music recognition experience that matches the features seen on Apple wearables.

Shazam is always changing to satisfy the demands of its wide range of users, now offering better independence and offline capabilities.
