According to the United States Coast Guard, a search is currently ongoing for a United States Marine who vanished while swimming at a beach in Puerto Rico while the island was under a high surf advisory.
Samuel Wanjiru, who is 26 years old, “came into distress” after wading into the ocean on Wednesday afternoon in the La Pared beach area in Luquillo, according to the United States Coast Guard, which is participating in the search efforts; the search is currently on.
Massachusetts Resident Dies in Puerto Rico
The Coast Guard reported that the individual, who was a resident of Massachusetts, was traveling to the island with his family.
Currents were responsible for the death of a guy who was 26 years old, according to the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Bureau.
The search for the guy continued on Thursday, according to the agency, with divers, boats, jet skis, helicopters, and drones among the means of investigation.

Dangerous Conditions Expected in Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands
High waves and “life-threatening rip currents” are expected to be present over the weekend in Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands, according to the Coast Guard, which issued a warning to beachgoers and boats in the midst of the extensive search.
In a separate incident that took place on Wednesday, the Coast Guard reported that a guy who was in distress in the ocean off Montones Beach in Isabela was found unresponsive and later ruled dead.
There are no lifeguards present at the majority of open ocean beaches in Puerto Rico, as Díaz cautioned me.
