President Joe Biden made a significant appearance in Raleigh, addressing pressing healthcare concerns while also acknowledging the escalating tensions in Gaza.
During his speech at the Chavis Community Center, Biden noted the ACA’s ongoing significance in the country’s healthcare system as well as the anniversary of its adoption in 2010.
Reaffirming Commitment
Biden lauded the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as a historic piece of legislation comparable to Medicare and Medicaid when analyzing its impacts. Emphasizing that everyone has the fundamental right to get high-quality healthcare, he blasted former President Donald Trump and his allies for attempting to disrupt access to affordable healthcare.

Biden asked Congress to extend vital tax credits included in the American Rescue Plan Act in order to maintain millions of Americans’ access to affordable healthcare. Additionally, Biden denounced the Trump administration’s assault on reproductive rights, citing in particular the reversal of Roe v. He emphasized the impending Supreme Court discussions on mifepristone, also known as the abortion pill, and cautioned against additional violations of women’s rights.
