Mentally unfit suspect Kimbrady Carriker faces trial for the devastating mass shooting in Kingsessing, Philadelphia last summer.
The 41-year-old faces a slew of charges including five counts of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, and illegal gun possession.
Disturbing Evidence Unveiled
During the preliminary hearing on Tuesday, disturbing footage from an officer’s body-worn camera was played, revealing Carriker’s chilling movements as he traversed about a mile during the shootings on July 3.
Despite ongoing investigations, authorities are still grappling to discern the motive behind Carriker’s actions. Assistant District Attorney Robert Wainwright commended the bravery of officers who risked their lives to apprehend the assailant, emphasizing their selfless dedication to protecting the community.
Carriker’s defense attorneys informed the court that their client has been undergoing mental health treatment and is now prepared to confront the charges against him. Consequently, the municipal court judge has transferred the case to county court for trial proceedings to commence.

The devastating aftermath of Carriker’s rampage left a trail of irreparable loss. Among the victims were 20-year-old Lashyd Merritt, 29-year-old Dymire Stanton, 59-year-old Ralph Moralis, and 15-year-old DaJuan Brown. Another victim, Joseph Wamah, aged 31, was found shot to death a day prior in the same neighborhood.
In addition to the fatalities, several others, including innocent children, fell victim to Carriker’s indiscriminate gunfire. The community was left reeling as two toddlers and a 13-year-old youth sustained gunshot wounds, while a woman was injured by shattered glass during the terrifying ordeal.
Philadelphia police revealed chilling details of the attack, indicating that Carriker was clad in a ski mask and armed with an AR-15-style rifle when he unleashed terror on unsuspecting victims and vehicles.
Upon his surrender in an alley, authorities discovered he was equipped with multiple firearms, extra magazines, and a bulletproof vest, further underscoring the premeditated nature of the attack.
