A Minnesota woman, 20-year-old Esperanza Rae Harding, faces second-degree murder charges for allegedly drowning her baby in a hotel bathtub, shocking the community.
The disturbing events unfolded on February 28, as investigators later discovered, when Harding claimed to have taken the life of her own child.
Conflicting Statements
Harding was first seen by police on March 6 as they were investigating an allegation of a missing child at a Bloomington hospital. At first, Harding told police that her child had passed away at the hospital, but there were no records of the boy’s existence.
The truth emerged when Harding confessed that her baby had actually died days earlier and that she had intentionally drowned him in the hotel bathtub.
The chilling details reveal that Harding was disturbed by her baby’s crying, preventing her from enjoying her bath. She callously admitted to texting the man she was seeing, 18-year-old Edwin Trudeau, about the horrifying act.

Shock and Mourning in Minnesota
The child and Trudeau did not have a happy relationship, according to court documents. He tried, in vain, to revive the comatose toddler when he arrived at the hotel room. While the two enjoyed an astonishing sex session in a different room, the toddler was left alone on the lavatory floor.
The Minnesota horrific scope of their deeds was revealed by further inquiries. Harding ruthlessly threw the baby’s body in the garbage after placing it inside a rucksack in an effort to hide the crime.
Disturbingly, Trudeau, despite being aware of the heinous act, failed to contact the authorities and is now facing charges as an accomplice. Bloomington, a suburb of Minneapolis, is grappling with the aftermath of this tragedy, only 10 miles south of the city’s downtown.
The Minnesota community is left in shock and mourning as they come to terms with the unimaginable loss of an innocent life and the appalling circumstances surrounding it. The legal proceedings will undoubtedly unfold as the justice system grapples with the severity of the charges against both Harding and Trudeau.
