After nearly seven years, a missing woman has been found alive in a Michigan motel room, authorities announced Thursday.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) revealed that they received a tip on Tuesday from a caller claiming to be the stepdaughter of a missing woman and stating the woman was being held against her will in a motel.
Disturbing Motel Incident
Though authorities haven’t released the woman’s name, they confirmed she was in her 20s when she vanished in 2017 and is now in her 30s.
Following the tip, detectives traced the woman to the Evergreen Motel in Inkster. Upon arrival, police officers reported hearing a disturbing sound.
“They described it as like a crying, kind of screaming type of noise that lured them to that specific area,” Lieutenant Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police told WXYZ.

Distraught Woman Found with Gun and Drugs in Motel: Michigan Police
Michigan Police entered the motel room and found the woman, though physically unharmed, to be “pretty distraught” according to Lt. Shaw. While the woman was reportedly alone, officers discovered a gun and drugs in the room.
The MSP stated, “She was transported to Beaumont Dearborn for a medical evaluation and interview by detectives. She was reunited with family and was given other resources to help her recover.”
Authorities revealed a suspect has been identified in the case, but no arrests have been made at this time.
Lieutenant Shaw told that investigators are now working to understand the circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance. “It may take us nowhere,” he said. “It may not be something that we can charge criminally, but at least we got her out of the situation.”
