Starfield Anseong Mall in South Korea turned tragic when a woman in her 60s suffered a fatal accident during a bungee jump.
Reports reveal that the woman experienced a cardiac arrest and succumbed to her injuries on the spot after falling from a height of eight meters.
Woman Suffers Fatal Cardiac Arrest After Eight-Meter Fall
According to the <em>Yonhap</em> news agency, the unidentified woman plummeted from the bungee jumping platform onto a concrete floor within the sports facility.
The incident occurred on February 26 at approximately 4:27 pm local time, as confirmed by the Gyeonggi Nambu, South Korean Provincial Police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the bungee cord detachment might have been caused by a defective carabiner clip, which is responsible for connecting the rope to a beam or crane.
South Korean Authorities are currently delving into the specifics of the case, with a focus on evaluating the implementation of safety measures at the facility.
Despite wearing safety gear at the time of the jump, it was reported that the carabiner, a crucial safety hook, was not properly secured. This lapse potentially contributed to the tragic outcome of the incident.
Following the accident, the woman was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel attempted resuscitation efforts. Regrettably, despite their best endeavors, the woman could not be revived and was pronounced dead approximately one hour after the fall.
