On Wednesday, Michigan Republicans formally removed Kristina Karamo from her position as state party chair, concluding a prolonged dispute that originated from a January 6th decision to dismiss her due to inadequate fundraising efforts and internal conflicts within the party.
The committee on contests has made a determination that Kristina Karamo was removed from her position as chair.
They have recommended to the RNC executive committee that Pete Hoekstra be ratified as the new chair.
Today, the Executive Committee unanimously took action to ratify Hoekstra as an RNC member and chair.

Karamo Takes Party Chair Amid Election Denial
Karamo, a proponent of election denial previously endorsed by former President Donald Trump, assumed the role of party chair last year subsequent to an unsuccessful campaign for secretary of state in 2022.
Her staunchly conservative rhetoric as the head of the state party estranged donors, and coupled with financial difficulties, prompted some of her supporters to advocate for her removal from the position.
Additionally, she contested a January vote conducted by Michigan Republicans that ousted her from the chairmanship, asserting the meeting’s invalidity, exacerbating the turmoil within the party.
Karamo has yet to provide a response to a request for comment.
Former Michigan Representative Pete Hoekstra, who garnered an endorsement from Trump last month, will now lead the state party.
In a statement, Hoekstra declared, “It is time for the former Chair who was properly removed in accordance with the MIGOP bylaws to end her misinformation campaign. She should join the fight to re-elect Donald Trump rather than dividing this Party.”
