Kansas City Chiefs’ Quarterback’s Father Arrested for DWI in Texas

Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, found himself in legal trouble once again as he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), as reported in a booking report from Saturday.

According to the report, Mahomes Sr., 53, was charged with DWI and subsequently booked at Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas.

The incident raises concerns, especially considering that Mahomes Sr. had previously faced a DWI charge in 2018. In the subsequent year, he was sentenced to 40 days of jail time, to be served on weekends, according to court records from Smith County, Texas.

Mahomes Sr. was released from custody on Sunday after posting a $10,000 surety bond. Representatives for the elder Mahomes have not provided an immediate response to requests for comments on the recent incident.

This arrest comes at a significant time for the Mahomes family, with Patrick Mahomes set to lead the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers in the upcoming Super Bowl in Las Vegas on Feb. 11. 

The quarterback’s focus and preparation for the high-stakes game might be impacted by the distraction and potential implications of his father’s legal issues.

It’s crucial to note Mahomes Sr.’s background in sports, having been a pitcher in Major League Baseball for 11 seasons. He spent the initial half of his career with the Minnesota Twins before later playing for various teams.
