South Carolina Primary Triumph: Biden Secures Projected Victory in 2024

President Joe Biden won the South Carolina Democratic primary by a large margin, putting him one step closer to the presidency in 2024.

With 55 pledged delegates now under his belt, Biden expressed gratitude to the voters of the Palmetto State, drawing parallels to the pivotal role they played in his 2020 campaign.

Biden’s Triumph and Acknowledgment

President Biden hailed the victory, acknowledging the support from South Carolina that rejuvenated his campaign in 2020.

In a statement, he confidently asserted, “The people of South Carolina have spoken again, and I have no doubt that you have set us on the path to winning the Presidency again—and making Donald Trump a loser again.” Biden’s optimism was further highlighted in a video posted on social media, where he thanked supporters and urged them to secure a comprehensive win in the upcoming election.

However, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm. Representative Dean Phillips, trailing behind Biden in the South Carolina Democratic primary, pointed to a “lack of voter enthusiasm” for a potential Biden-Trump rematch.

The campaign’s statement emphasized the lower-than-expected turnout compared to Biden’s 2020 presidential primary, indicating potential challenges for the Democratic nominee.

Democratic National Committee chair Jaime Harrison celebrated the South Carolina Democratic primary as “a historic victory for Black and rural voters.” On the other side, the South Carolina Republican Party encouraged strong voter turnout in their upcoming primary, criticizing President Biden’s policies and emphasizing the need for change.

Voters can participate in either primary, but not both, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. Early voting and absentee ballot information is also highlighted for voter convenience.
