Netflix has given fans a sneak peek into the highly anticipated second season of the record-breaking Korean thriller ‘Squid Game.’

The streaming giant dropped a clip from Season 2 as part of a preview reel showcasing upcoming TV shows and movies in 2024.

Seong Gi-hun’s Journey Continues

The teaser suggests that Season 2 will seamlessly pick up where the first season left off, featuring the now-red-haired main character, Seong Gi-hun, portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, walking out of an airport. 

The first season followed Gi-hun, grappling with poverty, a sick mother, and an estranged daughter, as he entered a high-stakes contest with the chance to win millions of dollars. 

The games involved life-or-death challenges, with losers paying the ultimate price. The season concluded with Gi-hun winning but left him traumatized, prompting him to turn back and confront those orchestrating the deadly games.

In the one-minute teaser, Gi-hun receives a call from the mysterious front man of the games, warning him of regret for his choices. Determined, Gi-hun declares, “I will find you, no matter what it takes.”

The first season of “Squid Game” premiered on Netflix in 2021, breaking records as the platform’s most significant debut hit. The hashtag #SquidGame garnered over 22 billion views on TikTok, propelling the cast, including Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, and Jung Ho-yeon, to global stardom.

As fans eagerly anticipate the continuation of the gripping narrative, some online have expressed concerns about Season 2 living up to the hype generated by the first season. While the novelty factor has diminished, with one viewer questioning, “Will Season 2 be able to wow audiences?” Others are simply relieved that the three-year wait is finally over.

Despite uncertainties, many fans are optimistic, with one tweeting, “Been waiting years for this series. We are about to get it finally! I have a feeling it will be better than season 1.”

The success of  ‘Squid Game’ has set high expectations for its second season, and viewers can look forward to unraveling the mysteries and facing new challenges when it premieres later this year.
