Cecil, described as having never done anything bad in his life, reportedly showed no signs of harm after ingesting the substantial amount of cash on a Friday.

The incident unfolded when Mr. Shaw, who had withdrawn the money to pay workers fixing a fence, left the cash on a countertop. Upon returning just 30 minutes later, he discovered the money shredded.

In a state of disbelief, the couple sprang into action, sifting through Cecil’s mess to salvage their lost funds. Ms. Shaw, recalling the shocking moment, said, “Suddenly Clayton yelled to me, ‘Cecil’s eating $4,000!’ I thought, ‘I cannot be hearing that.’ I almost had a heart attack.”

Despite their efforts to recover as much money as possible from the shredded remains, they realized they had to wait until Cecil had “expelled” more. Mr. Shaw revealed that Cecil regurgitated a $100 bill on Friday night, and over the following days, the couple collected and washed scraps, managing to salvage a total of $3,350.

In a social media video documenting the unusual ordeal, Ms. Shaw shared that the bank assured them that such incidents happen all the time and the bank can replace notes if the serial numbers are intact.
