Miracle Baby Rescued

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) in Winter Haven, Florida, shared the joyous news on Wednesday, November 29, confirming that the baby girl had been officially adopted.

The child, rescued by PCSO deputies almost a year ago, is now part of a loving family, bringing a heartening conclusion to a challenging journey.

The rescue operation occurred on January 28, around 1:47 in the morning, when PCSO deputies responded to a call about a baby crying in a wooded area near the Regal Loop Mobile Home Park in Mulberry.

The newborn, wrapped in a blanket and still attached to the placenta, was found in temperatures in the lower 50s. A vigilant resident who heard the baby’s cries called 911, leading to a timely intervention by law enforcement.

While the adoptive family has chosen not to grant interviews at this time, they generously allowed the police to share photos with the community that had followed the baby’s story and prayed for her well-being.

The PCSO expressed their gratitude to everyone who played a part in supporting the infant’s journey.

Photographs shared on social media captured the poignant moment of the adoption ceremony. The baby girl, now surrounded by her new parents, posed with PCSO’s Detective Green and Sgt. Ryan. The images shared by the PCSO radiate the joy of a new beginning for the child.

In a heartwarming turn of events, a Florida baby girl who was left alone in the woods just one hour after her birth has officially found her forever family through adoption.

In a press conference held on January 29, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd recounted the details surrounding the baby’s abandonment.  The initial discovery occurred after a neighbor heard “a baby crying outside” in the wooded area. The diligent residents who investigated found the infant, wrapped in old blankets, on a hill.

Despite extensive efforts by detectives, the baby’s mother was never located or identified. The incident, while rare due to Florida’s Safe Haven Law, emphasized the importance of awareness about safe alternatives for newborns.

The law allows parents to leave unharmed newborns, no more than a week old, at designated Safe Haven facilities without facing prosecution. The adoption of the baby girl abandoned in the woods serves as a testament to the power of compassion, community, and the possibility of a brighter future.

The heartwarming conclusion to this story reminds us of the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative impact of love and care.
