New Hampshire police, led by Colonel Mark Hall, addressed the media to provide preliminary details of the incident. While the suspect and victim remain unnamed, and the motive remains unclear, Col. Hall emphasized that the situation was “contained to the front lobby” and assured the public that there was no ongoing threat.

Initially, reports suggested multiple victims, but officials later revised the figure, indicating a single fatality. Col Hall declined to disclose the identity of the deceased victim, citing ongoing investigations.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the state police bomb squad was examining a suspicious vehicle, although he emphasized that it did not pose an immediate threat to the public.

Lori Weaver, Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, addressed concerns about the safety of patients and staff at the psychiatric hospital.

She reassured the public that all individuals within the facility were safe and operations were continuing as usual. The hospital, described as the state’s “premier, acute psychiatric hospital” on its website, houses approximately 185 beds.

As investigators work to determine the identity of the shooter and unravel the motive behind the attack, the community is left grappling with unanswered questions.  The swift response of law enforcement undoubtedly prevented a more significant tragedy, but the emotional toll on those involved and the community at large is immeasurable.
