A recent Consult Poll indicates voters trust former President Trump more than President Biden in handling complex international issues.
The survey, which sampled 4,922 registered voters across seven swing states from October 30 to November 7, highlighted significant disparities in trust regarding key foreign policy matters.
Trump Earns Higher Trust than Biden
Fifty-six percent of respondents said they trusted Trump to handle relations with China, compared to thirty-four percent who said they trusted Biden”. Voters gave Trump a higher percentage of trust (45%) than they did Biden (34%) about the Russia-Ukraine war.
In the Israel-Hamas conflict, 43 percent of respondents trust Trump, with 33 percent expressing trust in Biden. Notably, 24 percent of voters were undecided on the latter issue.
The poll also delved into perceptions of how Biden is addressing conflicts in Ukraine, Israel, and Gaza. Swing-state voters generally believe Biden is doing the right amount, but considerable numbers feel he is either doing too much or too little.

Consult Poll’s One Percentage Point Precision
In a hypothetical 2024 matchup between Trump and Biden, respondents favored Trump with 40 percent support compared to Biden’s 38 percent. Another poll indicated Trump narrowly leading Biden with 49 percent to 45 among registered voters in a theoretical rematch.
Trump’s popularity extends beyond these hypothetical matchups; he leads other Republican candidates by a significant margin.
During a recent debate, candidates showcased differing views on foreign policy, particularly on the war in Ukraine, with former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie supporting Ukraine, while entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis expressed criticism of US involvement.
The poll’s results are consistent with other recent research, which indicates that Trump is winning in crucial battleground states that will probably decide the outcome of the 2024 race. Interestingly, voters of color appeared to be losing favor with Biden according to both surveys. The Consult Poll has a one-percentage-point margin of error.
