A terrible turn in Ellen Boehm’s life resulted in a horrific sequence of events that left a path of destruction and incredulity across Missouri.

Ellen’s Descent Missouri’s Tragic Tale

At the age of 18, Ellen met Paul Boehm, a married man, and decided to marry him despite the complexities of his existing marriage. Little did she know that this decision would set the stage for a harrowing journey that no one could have predicted.

The tumultuous turn of events began when Paul falsely claimed exposure to Agent Orange, using it as a ruse to escape with his young lover, leaving Ellen to raise their three children alone. Fueled by greed, Ellen’s life spiraled out of control. Despite being addicted to wrestling and weaving fictional tales of romantic encounters with wrestlers, her best friend Deanne chose to turn a blind eye, believing these lies harmed no one.

Tragedy struck on Thanksgiving Day in 1988 when Ellen’s youngest son, David, succumbed to a mysterious ailment. Strangely detached, Ellen prioritized wrestling tickets over funeral arrangements, signaling a disturbing lack of emotion.

The death of David proved to be a turning point. Ellen capitalized on a life insurance payout and, eight months later, sought policies for her two remaining children totaling around $100,000 each. The sinister plot unfolded further when she attempted to kill her daughter, Jennifer, followed by the death of her four-year-old son, Steven, just 12 days later.

The investigation that ensued revealed a chilling pattern of murder and attempted murder. Ellen’s deceit crumbled under the scrutiny of the FBI, leading to her arrest in September 1991. She confessed to smothering David, attempting to electrocute Jennifer, and smothering Steven.
