Kansas Five Black Women File Lawsuit Against Indicted Cop, Claiming Sexual Assault

Five Black women filed a federal complaint against Roger Golubski, a former Kansas City Police Department detective, along with fellow detectives, former police chiefs, and local government entities.

The lawsuit alleges sexual assault, rape, intimidation, and a pattern of abuse perpetrated under the guise of the law. Golubski, who was indicted twice by the Department of Justice in 2022 for sexual assault and sexual servitude involving young women in the late 1990s, now faces further legal challenges.

Kansas Lawsuit Mirrors 2022 Indictments

The 138-page lawsuit, filed on a Friday, echoes many of the allegations brought forth in the 2022 indictments. The plaintiffs, however, argue that the issue extends beyond the actions of individuals. They contend that public officials, including Chiefs of Police, were complicit in enabling and fostering a decades-long reign of terror within the Black community.

Despite being warned, informed, and aware of unconstitutional and criminal acts, these officials allegedly allowed this terror to persist, causing immense harm to individuals and families.

The defendants are also said to have run a protection racket that collaborated with criminals to protect their interests. In exchange for money, sex, or drugs, they allegedly manipulated investigations, framed innocent individuals, and conducted pre-arranged raids to maintain appearances.

Pursuing Accountability Through a Federal Lawsuit

Five Black women filed a federal complaint against Roger Golubski, a former Kansas City Police Department detective, along with fellow detectives, former police chiefs, and local government entities.

The government officials allegedly had knowledge of the conduct of Golubski and others but took no action. In a related case, Golubski and three other men were indicted in November 2022, accused of conspiring to force women into sexual slavery through physical violence, sexual assaults, and threats.

Golubski, who was a detective at the time, allegedly accepted money and provided protection for criminal activities, including sex trafficking.

The federal lawsuit represents a significant effort to hold both individual wrongdoers and the institutions that tolerated their actions accountable for the immense suffering endured by the victims over the years.

It raises questions about the responsibility of public officials to protect their communities and ensure the integrity of law enforcement.
