A Georgia police officer’s bravery in saving a mother and her child from their burning SUV was captured on bodycam in a shocking and dramatic turn of events.
The incident unfolded as Officer Dow Turrentine of the Rome Police Department was conducting a routine traffic stop.

As Turrentine was engaged in his traffic stop, the sound of a violent crash pierced the air. Without hesitation, he immediately rushed towards the scene, where he discovered the SUV engulfed in flames.
Desperate screams filled the air as Turrentine used his knife to shatter the window and free the terrified mother and her son, Samantha Bostick, and young Liam. The bodycam footage captures the tense moments of the rescue, with the vehicle’s flames steadily growing.
Once Bostick and Liam were safely removed from the SUV, Turrentine immediately informed dispatch that the vehicle was nearly fully engulfed in flames. Despite efforts to use fire extinguishers, the blaze proved too fierce to control.

Injuries and Medical Care for the Survivors
The heroic officer was not alone in his efforts. Christopher Jones, a bystander, lent a hand and helped ensure the safe rescue of the passengers.
In a statement, the Rome Police Department expressed their admiration and gratitude for the immediate and heroic response displayed by their officers. They emphasized that their personnel are trained to handle such life-threatening situations, yet the officers’ exceptional dedication is always commendable.
Following the harrowing incident, Samantha Bostick was taken to the hospital and will require knee surgery, while young Liam was checked out at an emergency room and subsequently released.
