Florida’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, is gearing up for its October payments, providing vital support to low-income families.
SNAP disburses payments to eligible Florida residents from the first to the 28th of each month, with the disbursement date determined by the last two digits of the recipient’s case number.
Maximum SNAP Benefits According to Household Size
For instance, beneficiaries with case numbers ending in 00 to 03 receive their SNAP benefits on the first day of the month.
Those with digits ending in 04 to 06 access their funds on the second day, while those with numbers ending in 93 to 95 can expect payments on the 27th. Lastly, individuals with case numbers ending in 96 to 99 will receive their SNAP funds on the 28th.
The maximum SNAP payment varies based on household size, with $291 allotted for a one-person household, $973 for a family of four, and $1,751 for a family of eight. Additional assistance of up to $219 per member is granted for households exceeding eight people. It’s important to note that new guidelines may result in increased SNAP benefits for Florida recipients starting in October.

Restricted Purchases with SNAP Benefits
SNAP benefits are conveniently loaded onto an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card each month. Recipients can utilize this EBT card at grocery stores to purchase essential food items, including fruits, vegetables, bread, meat, poultry, and beverages.
However, certain items like pet food, alcohol, and non-food household products such as paper and soap are not eligible for purchase using SNAP benefits.
According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, approximately 13% of Florida’s population, equivalent to around 2.85 million people, rely on SNAP benefits to address their nutritional needs.
As these October payments roll out, they continue to serve as a lifeline for countless low-income families, ensuring that they have access to essential sustenance in times of need.
