Virginia Tax Rebate Deadline: 8 Days to Secure Your $400

Virginia residents have a limited window of opportunity to secure a valuable tax rebate for the 2022 tax year.

With just eight days remaining until the extended deadline of November 1, individuals and joint filers have the chance to qualify for rebates of up to $400, as part of a program aimed at providing financial relief to the state’s taxpayers.

Virginia’s Tax Rebate Opportunity

On May 1, 2023, the regular filing date for Virginia state income taxes for 2022 expired. There is good news for those who missed the initial deadline, though.

The extended deadline until November 1 allows them a second chance to file their returns and become eligible for these rebates. If you already filed your taxes by the regular deadline, you won’t need to take any additional steps to secure your rebate if you meet the eligibility criteria.

The rebate amounts vary, with individual filers potentially receiving up to $200, while joint filers can qualify for a rebate of up to $400. Although specific eligibility details tailored to individual taxpayers are currently unavailable, the Virginia Department of Taxation promises to provide more information in due course, along with answers to common eligibility questions on their website.

Virginia residents have a limited window of opportunity to secure a valuable tax rebate for the 2022 tax year.

This round of tax rebates follows last year’s rebates of up to $500 that Virginians received in 2022. Governor Glenn Youngkin, a staunch advocate of reducing the tax burden on residents, emphasized the importance of adhering to the November 1 deadline to claim these rebates in a recent press release.

In his statement, Governor Youngkin highlighted the necessity of this financial relief, particularly in the face of inflation and rising prices attributed to policies originating in Washington, D.C. He underscored the importance of these rebates in helping Virginians preserve more of their hard-earned money for essential expenses, such as gas, groceries, and other daily needs.

The rebate payments are scheduled to start rolling out in the coming days. Taxpayers can expect to receive their rebates through either direct deposit or by check, depending on their previous preferences for tax refund delivery

Governor Youngkin’s commitment to lowering the cost of living and delivering tax relief reflects his dedication to supporting the state’s working families and veterans, ensuring that their money remains in their hands, rather than the government’s.
