Three young children lost their lives in a horrific house fire that started as a horrifying domestic quarrel in the wee hours of a Wednesday morning in New Orleans.

According to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), the incident unfolded after a frantic call from a distressed woman, who reported her partner’s threats to set their home ablaze.

The NOPD swiftly responded to the emergency call, but within just ten minutes, a fire had engulfed the family’s residence. First responders arrived on the scene at 12:20 a.m., only to find the home consumed by flames. They managed to rescue an 8-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, who were rushed to the hospital.

Tragically, they were pronounced dead approximately an hour later. A third child, a 3-year-old boy, was found lifeless inside the burning home.

The children’s mother, who was at work during the incident, was not present when the fire erupted. The authorities promptly initiated an investigation, identifying the children’s father, 29-year-old Joseph Washington, Sr., as the prime suspect responsible for the devastating fire and the loss of his three children.
