Biden Condemns Hamas Attack: Deadliest Day for Jews Since the Holocaust, Gaza Exodus Hits 338,000

President Joe Biden vehemently criticized the recent Hamas attack on Israel, describing it as an act of extreme cruelty, marking a dark day in Jewish history comparable to the Holocaust.

Speaking before a round table of Jewish leaders in Washington, Biden emphasized the need to confront the cruelty inflicted on the Jewish community.

Biden’s Strong Stance and Increased Military Support

Biden also disclosed that he had recently engaged in discussions with Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and announced that the United States is increasing military support to the Israel Defense Forces as they cope with the situation.

Biden was unambiguous in his stance against remaining silent in the face of such violence, saying, Silence is complicity. I refuse to be silent. He also revealed that he had recently engaged in discussions with the president of the United States, Barack Obama.

While the United States is actively addressing various aspects of the hostage crisis in Israel, Biden refrained from sharing specific details, noting that divulging such information would be bizarre.

In a separate development, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is set to meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday, as confirmed by a Palestinian official. This meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to address the escalating conflict and foster diplomatic solutions.

Notably, the historically warm relations between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin appear to have frayed in the aftermath of the recent attacks on Israel.

Despite Netanyahu’s previous praise for Putin, the Russian leader has yet to reach out to Netanyahu or publish a message of condolence, which is a customary diplomatic gesture following significant incidents.

This absence of engagement between the two leaders underscores the gravity of the situation and its international implications. As the crisis in the Middle East continues to evolve, the world watches closely to see how leaders and nations respond to the ongoing violence and its ramifications.
