In a terrifying occurrence that occurred on July 27, 2022, in Posen, Illinois, a 20-year-old guy named Kewan Tillman received a ten-year prison term for a disturbing carjacking.
The victim, a woman with her two young children, fell victim to this shocking act of violence.
Illinois Terrifying Confrontation
Tillman, armed with a pistol, confronted the woman as she was entering her Kia Optima at a Thorntons gas station. He pointed the gun at her, demanding her keys. Fearing for her life and the safety of her children, the woman complied and relinquished her keys. Quick thinking allowed her to retrieve her children from the back of the vehicle just in time.
After obtaining the car, Tillman recklessly sped away but lost control of the stolen Kia. He abandoned the car and fled back towards the gas station, attempting to hijack an occupied semi-truck unsuccessfully.
Following his unsuccessful attempt to forcibly enter another vehicle situated at a gas pump, a confrontation erupted with the driver. This escalated into a struggle, only ceasing when deputies from the Posen Police Department arrived at the scene and successfully apprehended Tillman.

A Comprehensive Investigation
Further investigation revealed that Tillman had discarded a loaded handgun with a Glock switch in a nearby sewer during the chaos. This illegal firearm modification enabled the gun to fire in fully automatic mode, posing an even greater threat.
Subsequently, investigators unearthed that Tillman had reached the gas station in a Kia Soul that had been reported as stolen, compounding the list of criminal offenses attributed to him.
In light of the severity of his transgressions, Tillman opted to plead guilty to federal charges related to carjacking and firearm possession.
As a consequence of his culpable actions, he received a sentencing of 10 years in federal prison, a decision deemed fitting and equitable for this alarming and perilous criminal act.
