Pennsylvania Police Officer Faces Arrest for Allegedly Wrongfully Committing Ex-Girlfriend to Mental Facility

A married Pennsylvania State Police trooper is now facing a slew of serious charges, including false imprisonment, in a shocking case that has left the community in disbelief.

Ronald Davis, a 37-year-old state trooper, stands accused of abusing his authority to unlawfully detain his former girlfriend and commit her to a mental health treatment program under false pretenses.

Trooper’s Pennsylvania Court Order Misuse

The harrowing incident unfolded on August 21 when Davis sought assistance from his fellow troopers, alleging that his ex-girlfriend, identified as M.F., was grappling with mental health issues.

Armed with purported text messages from her, in which she allegedly threatened suicide, Davis used his position to contact county officials via his police email account, seeking a court order to involuntarily commit her.

Once armed with the court order, Davis and a civilian companion embarked on a chilling mission to detain M.F. They located her in a state forest picnic area, where an altercation ensued. Shockingly, footage captured by the civilian companion shows Davis sitting on top of his ex-girlfriend after what she claimed was a forceful tackle to the ground.

A married Pennsylvania State Police trooper is now facing a slew of serious charges, including false imprisonment, in a shocking case that has left the community in disbelief.

Throughout the ordeal, M.F. repeatedly pleaded her innocence, asking why she was being treated like a criminal. She sustained injuries to various parts of her body, further illustrating the violent nature of her detention.

Despite her lack of understanding regarding the situation, she was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill, where she remained involuntarily committed for five days.

In a disturbing twist, it was revealed that M.F. never displayed any suicidal thoughts during her time in medical care. Upon her release on August 26, law enforcement reevaluated the situation and determined that there was no just cause to force her into treatment.

The purported “suicidal” text messages that Davis had presented were found to be taken out of context, stemming from a larger domestic dispute between the couple, rather than reflecting a genuine desire to harm herself.

As a result of his egregious actions, Trooper Ronald Davis now faces charges including felony strangulation, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and official oppression.

He was remanded without bail following an arraignment, a stark reminder that no one is above the law, regardless of their position or authority. This shocking case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of transparency, accountability, and ensuring justice prevails, even within law enforcement.
