Residents Urged to Boil Water: Advisory for DeBary and Orange City

Township officials in West Orange have announced that the precautionary boil water advisory, issued in the wake of a recent water main break, has been lifted, relieving affected residents.

The advisory specifically applied to residents living near Edgemont Drive, between Ferris Drive, Eagle Rock Avenue, and Greenwood Avenue, spanning from Edgemont Road to Beechwood Terrace. 

Boil Water Advisory Lifted in West Orange

These residents were urged to take precautions and boil their tap water for consumption and other domestic uses following the water main break.

Mayor Susan McCartney provided an update on the situation during a Sunday evening announcement, confirming the advisory’s removal. 

McCartney stated, “The incubation testing time is 24 hours. Having just spoken with the township’s NJAW (New Jersey American Water) representative, test results have just been received, and they are thankfully favorable and normal.”

Residents in the affected area can now safely resume using their tap water without the need for boiling.

Additionally, water pressure has been restored to normal levels.

To ensure residents were promptly informed of the advisory’s lift, a reverse 911 call was initiated.

American Water Addresses Affected Homes in Boil Water Advisory

Furthermore, a hand-delivered letter from a New Jersey American Water employee was distributed to each of the 24 homes affected by the boil water advisory.

In her statement, Mayor McCartney expressed her gratitude to the affected residents for their patience and understanding during the precautionary measures taken to ensure public safety. 

She concluded, “We are very sorry for this inconvenience, but I thank you for your patience in understanding the precautionary measures that needed to be taken to ensure public safety.”

With the boil water advisory now lifted, residents can return to their regular routines with the assurance that their water supply is safe for consumption and daily use.
