In a shocking and distressing turn of events, six individuals identifying as members of a religious group called the ‘Soldiers of Christ’ were arrested in connection with the tragic death of a South Korean woman in Georgia, USA.

The victim, a woman in her 20s or 30s, was found in an emaciated and severely malnourished state in the trunk of a car parked outside a famous South Korean spa, Jeju Sauna, located in Duluth, approximately 25 miles north of Atlanta.

‘Soldiers of Christ’ Members Arrested in South Korean Woman’s Starvation Death

The Gwinnett County Police Department released a statement revealing that the victim weighed only around 70 pounds when she was discovered on a fateful Tuesday evening.

Duluth, where this heart-wrenching incident took place, boasts a population that is nearly a quarter Asian, as reported by the US Census Bureau.

While the medical examiner’s office has suggested that malnourishment could have played a significant role in the woman’s tragic demise, the exact cause of her death is still under investigation, according to law enforcement authorities.

The victim is believed to have endured weeks of abuse, both physical and in terms of deprivation of food, before her death.

Detectives working on the case have reason to believe that she had moved to the United States from South Korea during the current year’s summer to join a religious organization, later identified as the ‘Soldiers of Christ.’

The harrowing discovery of the victim unfolded when one of the suspects, 26-year-old Eric Hyun, parked his vehicle in a parking lot and left.

Subsequently, he asked a family member to retrieve something from his car, where, unbeknownst to the family member, the woman was confined in the trunk.

Upon discovering her lifeless body, the family member promptly contacted 911, leading to law enforcement involvement.

In a subsequent investigation, authorities searched a residence linked to the vehicle, where they alleged that the woman had been held captive by the ‘Soldiers of Christ.’
