Missing Netflix Engineer’s Body Recovered in San Francisco Bay by California Authorities

A missing California Netflix engineer was identified last month after his lifeless body was discovered in the waters of San Francisco Bay. 

Suicide was determined to be the cause of the unfortunate incident by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division.

The California Coast Guard’s Swift Response

On August 29th, at approximately 11:40 a.m., the California Highway Patrol contacted the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division after an unconscious and unresponsive individual was spotted by a passing boat in the waters northeast of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. 

U.S. Coast Guard Station Golden Gate acted swiftly, retrieving the body and transferring it to Station Golden Gate in Sausalito, California. Sadly, paramedics, observing the state of the body, were unable to attempt resuscitation.

Initially, the remains displayed signs of advanced decomposition, prolonged exposure to the aquatic environment, and significant depredation, making identification impossible. However, after an exhaustive investigation, the victim was identified on August 31st as 22-year-old Yohanes Stefanos Kidane, originally from Webster, New York, and residing in San Jose, California.

Mysterious Discovery of Personal Belongings

Subsequently, an autopsy conducted by the coroner’s office on August 1st determined the cause of Kidane’s untimely demise as a result of blunt impact injuries and drowning, ultimately ruling it as a suicide.

The San Jose Police Department had reported Kidane’s disappearance on August 21st, revealing that the 22-year-old had taken a rideshare from San Jose to San Francisco on August 14th and was last seen in San Francisco. At that point, no evidence suggested foul play.

Kidane, a recent graduate of Cornell University in New York, had relocated to California to pursue a career as a software engineer for Netflix. 

Mysteriously, some of his personal belongings were discovered near the Golden Gate Bridge, but no apparent theft or wrongdoing was involved, as his wallet remained untouched, and his laptop was found within his backpack.
