A daring gesture to defend a mistreated dog turned into a terrifying ordeal for a Good Samaritan who was viciously assaulted by an alleged assailant carrying a wooden bat.
The Good Samaritan was subjected to this harrowing encounter due to his brave act to protect the dog.
Brave Dog Defender’s Act Leads to Brutal Assault
The incident took place on Sunday in the Mott Haven area, and as a result, the victim had serious injuries, and the suspect is being charged with attempted murder and assault.
The savage assault that occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the junction of East 135th Street and Third Avenue is now believed to have been committed by Rubin Bartley, who is 34.
Bartley was abusing his dog, a female Doberman, when the victim, a man in his 35s, stepped in to stop him. This is according to the personnel who are in charge of law enforcement.
The situation became much more severe as it was reported that Bartley had thrown the person trying to mediate to the ground.
The man returned to his vehicle and pulled out a wooden bat, showing no sign of being deterred.
After a brief exchange of words, the two men eventually found themselves in a physical altercation on the ground.
Reportedly, in a surprising change of events, Bartley rose up and began viciously hitting the Good Samaritan with the wooden bat.
He did this again and over again. As a result of the vicious assault, the victim had severe injuries, including a broken jaw, due to the numerous strikes delivered to his face and head.

Suspect Apprehended at Scene After Assault
Bartley was taken into custody right there at the spot by the responding authorities once they arrived there quickly.
The victim, whose name will not be revealed then, was rushed to the Lincoln Medical Center for treatment.
Even though he is said to have received harm to his face and head, thankfully, he is said to be in stable condition at this time.
Due to the severe nature of the incident, Bartley was charged with attempted murder and the assault charge by local officials.
The suspected attacker is originally from East New York, and they will be prosecuted for their crimes in the Bronx Criminal Court. His arraignment had not yet occurred when the report was written.
This upsetting occurrence serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of acting in potentially volatile circumstances.
An unexpected and shocking act of violence was committed due to the victim’s willingness to protect a vulnerable animal.
